Allay Lamp

I recently learned about the Allay Lamp, a unique lamp that uses a narrow band of green light to calm the brain, promote sleep and relieve headache pain, all without relying on medication! Invented by a Harvard medical school professor and neurologist, it’s the ideal solution for expecting and new parents who are very much in need of a good night sleep or are struggling with headaches and migraines.

I was curious, so I asked the following questions.
  • Why was this lamp created?
  • What is it about green light that works so well for calming?
  • What sets this apart from other night-time lamps on the market?

And I found out the following.

Allay Lamp is the ideal solution for expecting and new parents who are very much in need of a good night sleep or are struggling with headaches and migraines. Whether because of the disrupted sleep patterns created by hungry newborns, or just a general sense of being overwhelmed and stressed, insomnia is a chronic problem for parents and parents-to-be which is hard to solve.

For pregnant women and nursing moms, the stronger prescription migraine medications can not be used. And, while over the counter headache medications like acetaminophen (Tylenol) are acceptable, they may not work well enough. The Allay Lamp is a safe alternative because it doesn’t irritate: the smaller electrical signals of the narrow band of green light means a calmer brain, even in the midst of a migraine headache. It can also be used in conjunction with OTC medications for a two-pronged approach to pain relief. In fact, the Allay lamp is used in migraine centers around the country in conjunction with IV and other physician supervised/assisted interventions for severe migraine attacks.Join the thousands who use Allay to fall asleep faster, stay asleep longer, and wake up refreshed. By using the Allay Lamp as the only light source in the room, parents can create a low stress, low sensitivity environment that will help them to fall asleep and stay that way. In addition, those midnight feedings can still be illuminated throughout the nursery or bedroom, but with a calm, soothing light that won’t interfere with the baby’s, or the parents, ability to go back to sleep, quickly and easily.

Discovered by a Harvard Medical School neuroscientist, Allay's unique band of light wavelengths calms your brain by quieting hyperactive neurons.
Allay is the only light that helps with both sleep and headaches - its neuromodulator calms the mind.

Allay is a fundamentally different technology platform. It is patented. And has a license from Harvard for the technology. It uses a unique narrow band of green light that just isn't commercially available elsewhere - it was custom created for this purpose. The green light that Allay produces is the least excitatory light possible for the brain. And it directly calms the brain as a result, which promotes sleep and helps w headache. All the other sleep lights use more traditional colors of light, i.e. white or amber-ish. But these types of light create much more electrical activity in the eye and the mind ie they aren't calming. So it is a fundamentally different technology, the use of a very specific narrow band of light that doesn't activate and excite the brain like normal light does.

The other difference to flag here, is that the Allay Lamp has clinical evidence that supports the claims.
