Many students are back to school now, and depending on your district, it may look more "normal" than others. Your kids may be learning online with lots of screen time, or stuck in desks, or lucky enough to be outside for part of their day - and you might be looking for activities to do to make weekends fun, give them a break after school before dinner, or supplement homeschooling.
Forest School Wild Play follows the success of two previous Forest School books. Written by Jane Worroll and Peter Houghton, the book focuses on activities for kids that involve the four elements of air, fire, earth, and water. I had a chance to review a copy of the book, and it was unique - it wasn't just a list of activities, and it wasn't just a storybook, but it was a book that included a story for each element to appeal to kids' imagination while they were interacting with nature, focused on that element.
Many of the activities use things that families often have around the house, while a few required other easy-to-find supplies. There was some good guidance for parents on monitoring and facilitating the activities as well. It would be a great book for anyone looking to get their kids outside more with a few ideas to keep them occupied while also allowing for open-ended discovery.
