Book Nook: Blueberai's Very Different Summer in 2020 and Cornelius Fox Visits "The Cabin" in Cornwall

Like many, Steph Sullivan used her time during lockdown to realise her dream of becoming a published author. The results are two captivating and original stories for the under-fives, both of which have characters that are inspired by her hand knitted toys.

Bluebeari’s Very Different Summer in 2020 illustrates the very different times experienced during Covid, and 50% of proceeds from the sale of this book are being donated to charity by the author.

Bluebeari’s Very Different Summer in 2020

Meet Bluebeari and friends. Discover Bluebeari’s view of the world during the COVID-19 pandemic as he waved from the window in support of the NHS and watched as people went about their daily lives during lockdown.

Steph Sullivan’s first children’s book is immense fun, inspired by her own hand knitted bear Bluebeari, who watched and waved from the window, in support of the NHS and those around her who shared the journey into Lockdown with her during the summer of 2020.

Cornelius Fox Visits ‘The Cabin’ in Cornwall

Enjoy this foxy adventure as Cornelius takes a holiday at ‘The Cabin’ in Cornwall.

This vegetarian fox starts his holiday with a train journey to the West Country and finds himself fishing in the passing stream, eating fudge and scones with jam and cream around the log fire, watching the hens and ducks go by and meeting other visitors along the way.

Steph Sullivan’s second children’s book is another amusing story, inspired by her hand knitted character, autumn colours and the tranquillity whilst visiting her brother’s cabin at St. Mabyn, on the edge of Bodmin Moor.

The author says:

“Bluebeari was written with the NHS and key workers in mind. My daughter is a primary school teacher, and I was keen for them to get a mention.

“I feel this captures how we kept ourselves busy during lockdown and would be a good book for small children who have experienced it, and a keepsake for children that were born during the last 18 months. One day they will realise what it was all about in a positive way and how families met on zoom calls and whilst it has been a sad time for many, it wasn’t for everyone.”

Independently published, both Bluebeari’s Very Different Summer in 2020 and Cornelius Fox Visits ‘The Cabin’ in Cornwall are available in paperback from Amazon at https://amzn.to/3ADQety and https://amzn.to/39tbOF5 respectively

About the author:

I knit toys and during lockdown I had an idea to write a book through the eyes of my teddy bear 'Bluebeari ' who sat at the window and watched people go about their lives in a different way - this became Bluebeari’s very different summer in 2020. Then I had another idea about my knitted fox. My brother recently moved to Cornwall and rents out a holiday cabin on his property and this became Cornelius Fox visits 'the cabin' in Cornwall.

I have a full-time job as an executive assistant working in a corporate office in London and I have written these children's stories as a hobby and fulfilled a lifetime dream. I am hugely proud of the books and when I see children reading them, it fills my heart with joy and pride. I would have never achieved this if it weren’t for lockdown, so I am very grateful to have had some time at home.
