Author and Chaplain, Heather H. Burwell has announced the release of her newest book, Grief Doesn’t Do Math distributed by and available for sale online through Westbow Press and external retailers Amazon, Barns & Noble, Google Books and Flipkart as well as other resellers. Copies are also available at Parnassus Books in Nashville. Grief Doesn’t Do Math is being distributed by Ingram and Baker & Taylor distribution networks.
The book offers comfort and connection, this guide envisions a new way to experience and endure the grieving process on one’s own terms because grief is unique to each person. Grief Doesn’t Do Math addresses the well-known five stages of grief while envisioning a wider lens for grievers. Based on Heather’s personal experience of being widowed with a 4-year-old, she’s written the book called Grief Doesn’t Do Math. It includes journal entries, poems, and reflections written over the course of seven years by author Heather H. Burwell as she experienced her own journey of grief. As a chaplain, she often resides in the pain of others, something that may sound awful on the surface, but that has been very rewarding for her. Even so, she believes this is so because she has been through her own pain path and knows the route enough to help others down that road. Grief is a nonlinear process and something we all encounter in our lives, a burden that can be eased through sharing.“Grief Doesn’t Do Math, envisions a wider lens for grieving beyond the renowned stages. I’m thrilled to open up the dialogue surrounding grief and loss, and hopefully reach those going through painful times. Hope is always there, even when it seems far out of reach,” reflects Author - Heather H. Burwell.
Heather features and references a song she penned for her now husband, Lewis, soon after they began dating. The digital single, “Raindrop” was produced by Michael Webbs along with Heather Burwell and is available for streaming and download here.
As noted in the epilogue, “This is my grief virgin voyage, and I share with you for a sole reason: to help other people sitting in their dinghies in torrential rainstorms, tossed upon similar waves. “… to whom much has been given, much will be required.” I’ve been given much pain, and feel it’s my duty and honor to send forth the manner in which I survived, so others might feel strengthened. It’s not lip service; I really feel a conviction to help.”
