Healthy Habits: Just the Holiday Blues...Or Is It?

Clinical depression, known as major depressive disorder (MDD), is much more serious than just a case of the holiday blues, and can have a significant negative impact on all aspects of life.

In fact, depression is the leading cause of disability in the world, with an estimated 17.3 million American adults experiencing at least one major depressive episode in the past year.1,2

What’s more – one-third of people in the U.S. with MDD have treatment-resistant depression (TRD), meaning they have not responded adequately to at least two different antidepressants of adequate dose and duration in the current depressive episode.3,4

If you or someone you know are living with depression, now is an important time to check in and make sure the right care plan is in place. If symptoms persist after trying several treatment options, a discussion with a doctor may be needed to determine whether it’s MDD or TRD.

In this interview, Craig Chepke, MD, discusses the signs of challenging to treat depression and the treatment options currently available. He is joined by Sally, a patient living with TRD who is currently taking SPRAVATO® (esketamine) CIII nasal spray to help treat her depressive symptoms.
