Consumer Critique: Kind Cup

Note: if you're uncomfortable reading about female personal hygiene issues, feel free to skip this post!

I recently had the chance to try out a Kind Cup, which was redesigned to be even more effective and comfortable. I have to say I did find it better than a cup that I've tried in the past, which I never could quite get to feel right. This one, though, I was able to get situated in a place that made it more comfortable to use.

There are some things that are huge advantages with a menstrual cup - you don't have to change it frequently (you can wear it for up to 12 hours), you can reuse it (better for the planet and your wallet), and you don't have to worry about pads leaking or the sticky part getting caught. There is a bit of a learning curve in how to put it in and take it out, but once you get used the that, it's a great option to have. For me, I'll probably save it for days I'm in the pool or out and about for the whole day, but I know people who love theirs and use it all the time.

I had a chance to learn more in an interview with the CEO/founder Christine Brown.

Why is it a good idea for people to consider reusable menstrual products? Reusable menstrual products can be a transformative experience. Not only can cups like Kind Cup provide a more comfortable and convenient experience overall, but because of the overall commitment to the highest quality, and most sustainable materials throughout, each customer is doing better for their body and for the planet. If feeling better and reducing waste wasn't reason enough, it helps that reusable menstrual products also save you a significant amount of money.

What factors make menstrual cups particularly beneficial? Cups already offer benefits over single use pads and tampons from saving money, being able to go up to 12 hours before emptying, the ability to go about an active lifestyle without limitations or fear of leaks... but with Kind Cup, due to our patented design that puts the user needs and experience first, it especially focuses on comfort and function, quality and sustainability from manufacturing to menstruation.

How does the redesign improve fit? Form-fitting curvature is a drastic departure from traditional, cone-shaped cups. It optimizes capacity while maximizing comfort. The unique, elongated removal stem can be adjusted by trimming, making it a fantastic cup for anyone with a high cervix, average, or even low cervix - because let's be honest, most people have no idea where their cervix even is, so we solved for that in our design. The stem is angled forward, so there's no uncomfortable poking sensation when sitting down. And for those who have sensitivities on their bladder or in general, our unique shape minimizes potential discomfort. The design and material itself is soft-average firmness, so with all of the factors combined, our patented cup is a fantastic first-time cup, or cup upgrade for those more experienced with menstrual cups.

Kind Cup is proud to be doing its part to cut down on waste, helping people go green for the environment and their bodies, and the entire materials sourcing and manufacturing/production keep their carbon footprint to a minimum. Kind Cups are 100% medical-grade silicone that meets US FDA regulations and conforms to the following biological testing protocols: systemic toxicity, intracutaneous toxicity, and 7-day implant.
