Synopsis:
“Connected” is all about teaching kids and their families how to navigate their emotions. It is a practical guide to understanding powerful concepts that alleviate the stress and challenge in tough situations. The book also includes tools and tips to help children become advocates for their mental and emotional well-being in productive ways, as well as thought-provoking questions to encourage young readers to think about how these tools would be uniquely relatable to them. Written to inspire children to become empathetic leaders and creative solution-seekers, "Connected" is a book that helps them not only understand themselves better, but also those around them.
The author says:
“I'm a regular mom, living in the real world. My goal is to create harmony between work and other parts of life (school pickups, afterschool activities, appointments, self-care, family obligations, cooking, social life, etc), and while I am knowledgeable about the concepts in this book, I'm a deeply flawed human--just like everyone else. I get upset with my kids. They get upset with me. I say and do things in frustration and anger just like anyone else.
“The more I practice these concepts, the experience of the occurrences change. They happen less often with less severity. The kids and I always find ways to end the rough patches with lots of love, connection, and insight about the situation and what we were experiencing so that the next time, we might handle things with more grace and empathy.”
