Website Spotlight: Immortal Future

Social media in 2022 is all about how many followers can you obtain, how many people can you influence and following the newest trends with the hopes of going viral. That’s all fine and dandy, but what about us who want to
share intimate moments with just our family? A place where I’m not bombarded with political debates and those annoying, “Join my club!” messages from highschool friends that are obviously a pyramid scheme.

Henry Asulin, Founder and CEO of Immortal Future has created a solution to a problem that is only going to get bigger with time. As an interactive social network, Immortal Future has created a platform where families can upload the moments that mean the most to them and where they are completely in control of the content, a companion to families regardless of time or place.

It's also a response to medical issues like Alzheimer's. There are roughly 5.8 million Americans living with Alzheimers currently. With the figure projected to nearly triple to 14 million people by 2060 according to the CDC. With Immortal Future, families can create messages and content before the disease becomes too severe, and have this content sent at a future date or life milestone for the recipient. This way, their personality is preserved and family legacies can still be passed down from one generation to the next.

When it comes to these kinds of brain illnesses, we want to be able to look back with their grandkids and see the person who they were, all that they accomplished and the love and joy that they brought us. That way, the 5+ years of illness won’t erase the 60+ years of who they were.

I had a chance to interview him to learn more.

Can you share a little bit about ImmortalFuture and why it was created?

  • The story behind ImmortalFuture is a personal one, and one that was inspired by my family’s struggles connecting with a loved one. As a six year old grandchild, my grandmother was diagnosed with Alzhimer’s at the young age of 55. From that point on, it became nearly impossible for our family to connect with her, and for her to connect with us, in a meaningful way. My siblings and I were unable to learn about our grandmother’s life and her passions before Alzheimer's stuck, and as we grew older it became clear to us that our grandma would not be present to support us through life’s most defining moments and milestones. Families, today, live all across the world and are impacted by realities- like my family’s- that are out of our control. I am thrilled that ImmortalFuture will provide multi generations priceless opportunities to connect, inspire, and learn about one another regardless of when or where.

Why is it a natural step to move family storytelling online?

  • How many of us have spent days or weeks looking for a photo or letter in a box somewhere in a garage, have lost, or forgotten even existed? Our world is wildly different than it was 90+, or even five, years ago. The ability to capture a moment via a photo or video has never been easier. The majority of us walk around with smartphones that can take an even better photo or video than our cameras could five years ago, and making sure that our phone is with us at all times is just as important as making sure we have our wallet. Storytelling online makes it possible to take meaningful connection to a new level. Grandpa will now be able to read a book, today, for his grandchild, tomorrow. Mom will be able to teach a family recipe, today, so that your child, tomorrow, will be able to experience her and bond over a meaningful immersive experience. Moving family storytelling online ensures that the asset is safely housed, and that an entire family is able to access all of the files regardless of location, time, or situation- with zero points of failure.

Why is it important to have a place online for family members to connect?

  • Covid-19 has reminded us all just how fragile life is, and how important it is to keep your family members close by. The problem is that the pandemic has presented us all with a unique set of challenges in seeing those loved ones in person. The reality is that while Covid-19 has made it tougher for us to connect in person, it has always been difficult to stay connected, in a meaningful way, with family members as we are all living in different places throughout the world and each have different schedules. Every family having the ability to utilize a technological platform- designed just for families- to connect with, inspire, and support each other will strengthen relationships in the present and ensure that generations to come will be connected to those that came before them.

EXTRA:

  • Technology is neither inherently good nor bad, it is the way that we use it that determines its impact on us. Connecting in a meaningful way with our families, using technology, is a game-changer in a positive way.
