What better way is there to celebrate National Crayon Day than with some great DIY craft ideas? Here are some of TheSoul Publishing’s crayon craft ideas.
- Crayon Candles: With just a few supplies, you can create your own candle design! Grab an empty class container, a candle wick, crayons and a lighter. Place the candle wick inside the glass, and tilt it slightly on its side. Using a lighter, melt any colored crayon of your choosing, allowing the colored wax to fall into the glass. After it dries, tilt the class on its other side and repeat the process, using as many different colored crayons as you would like. Once complete, allow the candle wax to dry, trim the wick, and done!
- Wax Mold Creations: Using a wax mold, you can create fun and easy marble designed crayons in any shape! Simply choose a wax mold shape you like, select a few different colored crayons, and cut them up into small pieces after removing the paper wrapping. Next, take the cut-up crayons and place them into the wax mold. Once the tray is full, place the microwave safe wax mold into the microwave to melt the crayons. Remove the tray once the wax has melted and set aside to dry. When the wax dries, pop the crayons out of the tray. Now, you have a marble design crayon in the shape of your choosing!
- Hot Glue Gun Crayon Art: By placing a crayon into a hot glue gun, you have a quick and easy way to create designs with the melted wax. To begin, grab a blank canvas and select a photo of your choice to be glued on. Once the canvas is ready, use the hot glue gun to place the melted crayon wax onto the canvas, making any design you would like around the photo you selected. Once dried, you have a great craft to be displayed!
