Book Nook: Fear Not! How to Face Your Fear and Anxiety Head-On

Almost 6 million children are diagnosed with anxiety ages 3-17 years of age.
Fortunately, people are starting to become more aware of mental health issues. Stress, anxiety and fear are all normal emotions but they can often feel overwhelming if we don’t know how to process them.

I recently had a chance to review Fear Not! How to Face Your Fear and Anxiety Head-On by Christina Furnival, a therapist focusing on children and parent’s mental health.

For a short book, it touches on a variety of important points - facing anxiety and fear, coping skills, finding strength, resiliency, and more. While the book offers a somewhat simplistic look at dealing with stress, it's perfect for kids. It boils down a stress/anxiety response to a few steps that are easy to remember, but general enough that parents and caregivers can talk through specifics on what best fits their kids' needs. It's written in an honest, friendly way, and I love that it lets kids feel like tough emotions are normal and doesn't mean that they're broken or week.
