Home Habits: Easter Decorating Tips

 Information provided by Lights4fun

Easter is the perfect time to gather round and share moments with friends and family, enjoying an abundance of traditions and chocolatey treats! Transform the heart of your home and create a showstopping focal point to wow your guests and bring your Easter home to life! Here’s our simple three step guide to creating the ultimate hanging Easter branch.

You'll need:

A sturdy branch
(perhaps foraged on an Easter walk around the woods)

An Easter garland
(slightly longer than your branch)

Green cable micro lights

Hanging egg ornaments

Ribbon

Florist wire

Ceiling hooks

Step one:

Start by taking the branch and wrapping with your chosen garland, fixing into place using florist wire.
Complete the step by entwining in micro lights – not only will this add a crisp and sunny glow, but it’ll also mean your masterpiece is held super securely too!

Step two:

Choose hanging egg ornaments to adorn your centrepiece, popular ones at Easter include egg shapes, rabbits and chicks! Be sure to choose pastel shades to enhance your Spring-like Easter theme. Prepare your ornaments by simply looping ribbon around each hook and securing onto the branch with a bow.

Step three:

Finally, position the branch over your table! It's important to hang your display at the right height so you and your guests can sit comfortably. Start by fixing hooks into your ceiling, or for a less permanent fixture you can opt for an adhesive hook. Why not look to create the illusion of a floating branch by hanging with almost invisible fishing wire? Alternatively, opt to make a statement with an oversized velvet ribbon to hold up your display. Secure the wire or ribbon at either end of the branch and simply suspend your creation!

Compliment your DIY display by adding an Easter flair to your table too! Dress place settings with artificial Easter eggs in a mixture of colors and sizes. Create a dining table centrepiece by popping a charming nest on top of a cake stand or running an Easter garland down the middle. Add finishing touches by entwining any seasonal foliage in micro lights for a subtle glow and dot ornaments in shades of duck egg blue or baby pink around your display.

Finally, add a little height to your décor by incorporating an Easter tree in the middle of your table or elsewhere in your dining space. Complete the look with a seasonal wreath hung on an internal door to create the picture-perfect setting for your gatherings this Easter.
