Movie Minute: British Series on FilmRise



FilmRise has a variety of UK faves available for free on FilmRise British TV app. FilmRise British TV is available on Amazon Fire TV and Roku devices and Samsung and LG Smart TVs.

Popular series that you’d otherwise need to pay to watch include tentpole series Midsomer Murders; the long-running favorite Doc Martin, John Hannah (The Mummy) in crime drama McCallum, and Toby Stephens and Lucy Punch in detective comedy Vexed; crime dramas Wycliffe, Blue Murder, Cadfael, The Jury, Kavanagh QC, and soaps Coronation Street and spinoff Emmerdale. There are also a myriad of popular British films available to stream for free, including the Jeremy Irons classic Brideshead Revisited.

Other highlights include cult-favorite comedy Peep Show, starring comedy team David Mitchell and Robert Webb, as well as 2022 Oscar-nominee Olivia Colman (The Lost Daughter), the original UK version of dysfunctional family comedy Shameless, featuring James McAvoy, and evergreen priest comedy Father Ted, mini-series NY-LON starring Rashida Jones and Stephen Moyer (True Blood), among many, many others.

On top of all of those binge-worthy offerings, even got some favorites from the British-adjacent countries Canada, Australia and New Zealand. These include Australia’s celebrated mini-series The Slap, starring Melissa George (Mulholland Drive, HBO’s In Treatment), Sophie Okenedo (Hotel Rwanda), and Essie Davis (The Babadook, upcoming FilmRise title The Justice of Bunny King) The Slap is about a group of family and friends shaken to the core by one single slap, later adapted into a series in the US also starring George.
