Book Nook: Next Move, Best Move - Transitioning into a Career You’ll Love

I recently had a chance to review Next Move, Best Move: Transitioning into a Career You’ll Love. There were a lot of things I liked about this book. One thing I really liked is that it wasn't just about jumping to the next position. A lot of elements of the book could actually be used to stay in the same position and focus on self-improvement, or to reimagine or redefine your position within your current workforce. Transitioning into a great career doesn't always mean changing careers entirely.

In the author's own words: “While it may be exciting to get A job right after graduation, it’s great to also think about getting THE job,” says Brown, a career and leadership development expert. “Imagine if you were able to start your career in a role that both brought joy and paid you well! That’s why Next Move, Best Move is so critical to your success. This book will allow you to build a career strategy that will reward you for years to come.”

The book is positive and encouraging, and really focuses on a lot of actions that can work towards being in a dream career. It's doable for people in any situation, and applies to people at any stage of their professional careers. While it makes a great book for graduates or those who are entering the workforce, it would be appropriate for anyone in a time of transition or anyone who feels stagnant in their current role.
