Area Attractions: UK's Most Instagrammable Festivals

 


 

According to new research, Creamfields is the most Instagrammable festival in the UK.

 

Fabric experts at Dalston Mill Fabrics dove into Instagram stats and analysed the number of Instagram hashtags for the most popular UK festivals using the Influencer Marketing Hub Hashtag Analytics Tool to see which ones have been snapped the most by the public.

 

Creamfields Festival

 

Creamfields festival takes the top spot as the most Instagrammable festival in the UK, with over 482,100 hashtags on Instagram. The original Daresbury held festival has been renamed Creamfields North due to the festival celebrating its 25th anniversary and announcing the second weekend of festival Creamfields South in Hylands Park, Chelmsford bringing more attraction from UK festival-goers.

 

Glastonbury Festival

 

Glastonbury festival takes second place, with the hashtag '#glastonburyfestival' being used on over 158,800 Instagram posts. The five-day festival takes place in Pilton, Somerset and has been the home of some of the most iconic festival performances the UK has ever seen, including David Bowie in 2000, Beyonce in 2011, Jay Z in 2008 and Stormzy in 2019.

 

Boardmasters Festival

 

Held on Fistral Beach in Cornwall, Boardmasters is the third most Instagrammable festival in the UK and the only festival in the rankings to be held on a beach.The event has a capacity of 53,000 and will take place from the 10th – 14th of August this year. The festival has proved its popularity on Instagram, with the hashtag '#boardmasters' being used on over 114,800 posts, putting it in third place.

 

Wireless Festival

 

Wireless festival takes fourth place in the rankings with its three destinations seeing the festival visit Crystal Palace and Finsbury Park in London and the NEC in Birmingham. The hashtag '#wirelessfestival' has been used on over 93,000 Instagram posts proving just how popular the festival is on social media.

 

Isle of Wight Festival

 

The Isle of Wight festival, presented by cinch, puts Seaclose Park, Isle of Wight, in fifth place by the hashtag '#isleofwightfestival' being used on over 56,300 posts on Instagram. The festival will take place this year on the 16th – 19th June this summer and is anticipated to hold a capacity of 90,000 at this year's event.

 

BST Hyde Park

 

American Express presents BST Hyde Park will see London's Hyde Park become the place to be this summer from 24th June – 10th July. The 10-day event, seen across three weekends, also holds a free mid-week program, 'Open House', which features free events and entertainment. The hashtag '#bsthydepark' has been used on over 49,000 posts on Instagram, which puts the festival in sixth position.

 

Wilderness Festival

 

In seventh position is Wilderness Festival, held in Cornbury Park, Oxfordshire, from 4th – 7th August. The festival welcomes over 20,000 to join in the excitement over the first weekend of August and has become increasingly popular on Instagram over the past few years, with the hashtag '#wildernessfestival' on over 43,600 posts.

 

Y Not Festival

The Peak Districts Y Not festival is held from 29th July – 31st July and with over 16 years of celebrations the festival has proved its popularity within the UK festival scene. The hashtag ‘#ynotfestival’ has over 20,100 posts shared on Instagram which puts the festival in eighth place. The festival was originally planned as a house party back in 2005 when organiser Ralph Broadbent relocated to a quarry site, the festival now invites over 15,000 fans to enjoy the music and celebrate over the late July weekend.

 

Reading and Leeds Festival

 

The spot for the ninth most Instagrammable festival goes to Reading and Leeds festival, which takes place on the 26th – 28th August. The two location-festival was created in 1999 and has seen many different music genres feature in its past line-ups originating with the festival only celebrating mainly rock, indie and punk artists, the festival now caters to almost every genre of music for its fans. The hashtag ‘#readingandleeds’ has shown its popularity on Instagram with over 16,600 posts using the tag on snaps and videos of the festival.

 

Parklife Festival

 

In tenth position is Parklife which was held over 11th – 12th June this year, where 80,000 fans swooned into Manchester’s Heaton Park to enjoy an array of star-studded artists. The festivals Instagram hashtag, ‘#parklifefestival’ has seen over 16,600 posts on the platform from fans who have danced and celebrated the festival over the past 12 years.

Alongside sharing photos of the music artists that may have headlined, the importance of 'festival fashion' has become increasingly popular over the years, with influencers and celebrities showing fans their thoughtfully pieced-together outfits in the hopes of gaining likes and attraction towards their pages."
