Enriching Education: National Higher Education Day

Today is National Higher Education Day! To celebrate, Brainly, the leading digital homework help and education platform, conducted a data survey of U.S.-based high school students to better understand their plans and thoughts on higher education.

An outstanding 62% of students said they’re on track to enroll in college/university after they graduate high school. Many of them have also already decided on a career path, with 56% stating their future profession requires a degree.

Job requirements aren't the only major influence for getting a degree - expectations from others are a big deciding factor. Responses to the question “Do you feel expected to attend college after high school?” can be found below:
  • Yes, my family and friends: 30%
  • Yes, by myself: 27%
  • Yes, by my school/society: 23%
The level of desired higher education is quite subjective, depending on the student and their future employment. Here are their responses when asked, "What level of education do you want to achieve?":
  • Bachelor’s Degree: 38%
  • Master’s Degree: 34%
  • Doctorate: 16%
  • Associate's Degree: 12%
Over the past year, 1.4 million answers to high school-level questions have been shared on Brainly. The platform aims to provide high-school students with direct access to online tutors, textbooks, and peers, as well as student-prompted SAT prep questions for Math, Writing, and Reading.
