I had a chance to see a copy of a fun book in the Sabretooth Dan series. There's one book currently available - Versus Brunch - with three other books set to publish later this year and next year.
These books are exactly the kind of books kids would imagine. It has fantastical elements and crazy storylines, and the style reminds me so much of stories that I would hear from my own kids or kids that I baby-sat when they made up their own stories. The illustrations are fun and kid-friendly too. The zany adventures are a little bit like what gets imagined in Calvin & Hobbes, only instead of space monsters it's a little more earth-based.
About Dan: Dan is a young adventurer with a flying sword and a desire to be a fairy tale hero. Even if he has to write the book himself. But the other characters aren't cooperating, so Dan embarks on a journey and learns quite a bit about the world and himself. About the creator: C. Rivers is an artist who has worked for the National Lampoon, Klasky-Csupo, Keeshan animation,Turner, Saban, etc. He now lives in Alaska with his wife and dogs. |
