Consumer Critique: Congo Tropicals Plantain Chips

I recently had a chance to try a new snack - Congo Tropicals: Plantain Chips . I honestly wasn't sure what to expect. I like banana chips, but despite their appearance, plantains aren't really like bananas.

Plantains are really healthy - high in fiber and potassium, low in cholesterol, and with no sugar, they can be a great addition to your diet. They're cooked before being eaten, and can be used in a variety of dishes.

These snacks are an alternative to potato chips, and come in three varieties - salted, garlic, and ripe/maduro. They're Rainforest Alliance Certified, kosher, and grown with safe and sustainable agriculture. They definitely have a more solid crunch than potato chips - the texture is a lot more like banana chips, with a firm crunch. The taste is pretty good too - they're fine plain, and they also worked well with a few of the dipping combinations I tried. They're a snack that I would definitely try again!
