Amsterdam Publishers is publishing a new story from this era, told through the eyes of a Jewish teenager in Holland from 1940 to 1945, and it is appealing and accessible to emerging young adults of all reading levels.
The Boy Behind the Door: How Salomon Kool Escaped the Nazis is inspired by the true story of Salomon Kool, the youngest member of his Amsterdam family, who managed to flee the Nazis throughout World War II while the Netherlands were occupied.
“This is a powerful story, powerfully told,” says Michael Berenbaum, director of the Siri Ziering Holocaust Institute at the American Jewish University in Los Angeles.
The book is now available for pre-order and will be available on Amazon in Kindle, hardcover and paperback, and other platforms beginning September 1, 2022.
