Marian Hawkins’ wonderfully gentle tales of Oaky The Oak Leaf, Willow the Willow Leaf and Beech the Beech Leaf are a delicious counterpoint to much of today’s vivid and larger-than-life children’s’ literature; and are guaranteed to encourage children to ditch their screens and seek out all the wonders that nature has to offer.
With rhyming stories about her leafy protagonists, fun facts and games, the author has found a highly original way to deliver her 21st century environmental themes, all of which benefits from the captivating illustrations by Gaynor Volpi.
Aimed at four to nine year olds, this series will quickly become cherished additions to every child’s bookshelf. For those keen to explore further, the author’s tree and flower swatch booklets (sold separately) are helpful ‘in the field’ reference points for all blossoming conservationists.

About the author:
Marian Hawkins caught the writing bug creating personal verses for celebratory events such as
birthdays, anniversaries, engagements and even funerals.
Marian’s idea for Treeture Creatures and Flowerbuds was inspired by a desire to encourage a
passion for trees and the world around us. She saw an opportunity to develop characters that
could help children to remember and identify trees and leaves.
Marian was born in Hackney, London in March 1965. She now lives in Eaton Bray in Bedfordshire. Marian’s
first children’s book, Oaky the Oak Leaf, was published in June 2021.
Marian has carried out a number of author visits to local schools and events. Children can be brutally honest, so she has been very encouraged by the positive reaction received upon these visits.
