“Homeschool Days are some of our favorite times of the year! Our team loves welcoming local and visiting homeschool families into the upside-down house for a discounted rate,” says Kaitlin Barnes, education sales manager of WonderWorks Myrtle Beach. “Switch up your curriculum this fall and come experience all the hands-on STEM activities inside WonderWorks!”
Discounted tickets of $15, plus tax, per person for homeschoolers can be purchased now through October 2022. Families and groups must present their homeschool association membership or umbrella letter at the box office to get the event rate. To receive the special group rate, advanced reservations are required. Guests looking to take advantage of this special offer should email schools@wonderworksmb.com to set up a visit.
Homeschool families and groups may request a science scavenger hunt as part of the event as well, creating another interactive way to engage the kids in a fun and educational manner. Students can explore over 100 interactive educational exhibits focusing on STEM topics (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) and fun activities focused on physics, astronomy, physical science, and more in one engaging environment. They can explore topics such as robotics, shark anatomy, planet Earth, earthquakes, weather, the solar system and more throughout the facility. Guests can also put their physical abilities to the test on the indoor ropes course with over 20 different obstacles.
New to WonderWorks Myrtle Beach is an exciting exhibit called Shark Senses. The 4D virtual reality exhibit provides an immersive, multisensory, interactive, and educational journey through an underwater world that teaches visitors about sharks' senses. Visitors navigate the ocean from a shark's perspective by moving the shark's head either left or right. Directional audio cues mimic the shark's sense of hearing, a fan generating air flow alludes to the importance of smell sharks have, and vibrations in the handlebars simulate the electromagnetic field sharks detect when they are close to their prey.
“We are always adding new exhibits and experiences here at WonderWorks, and we’re very excited about our latest addition, Shark Senses!” says Robert Stinnett, general manager at WonderWorks Myrtle Beach. “It’s perfect for all ages and combines interactive and educational elements, which is everything we stand for.”
