- What are some tips for picking out a car seat? There are so many on the market, how can parents know what will work for them and their child?
I recommend an all-in-one car seat. (ex: Maxi Cosi all in one – (https://pishposhbaby.com/
- What are the main differences between an infant car seat and a convertible car seat?
An infant car seat is used for a newborn until about a year old and can only be positioned in rear facing. After about a year, one would transition the baby into a convertible seat. These seats can be used both in rear and forward-facing positions. Many Convertible seats can be used from birth and have a higher weight and height limit so they can hold a baby/toddler for a couple of years.
- Can you explain what parents should know about rear facing to front facing options?
It is safest to keep your child rear facing as long as possible as this is the safest position. Your child should remain in that seating position until they reach the highest height or weight limit for the seat.
- When do you know if a child is ready for a booster seat?
Generally, children who weigh over 65lbs or reaches 49 “ should transition to a booster seat. The starting age is generally around 4 years old. Many children want out of their convertible seats and are ready for a booster. It is always recommended to start off with a harnessed booster as this will ensure that your child sit safely secure. Bigger kids prefer unharnessed boosters where they can seat belt themselves in.
