Smart Safety: Report on Driving Statistics in 2022

Kids and teens are heading back to school, and whether they're walking there through a school zone, riding the bus, or going through driver education this fall, now is a perfect time to discuss safety on the roads.

A new report outlines some dangerous and scary driving statistics for 2022.

  • 1 out of 3 Americans says they encounter a bad driver every time they hit the road
  • More than 1 in 10 are unable to identify a school zone road sign
  • 69% say they are distracted at stop lights and don't pay attention to the road (changing the radio, checking GPS, eating, and texting are among the top distractions)

Even more concerning, 67% say they feel drivers have gotten more reckless and aggressive in the past year.
