Fun Freetime: CTC (MN) - Interview with Reed Sigmund

I recently had a chance to interview Reed Sigmund, company actor at the CTC, to learn some of his thoughts on the upcoming production of Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

What do you enjoy most about working for CTC?
I enjoy those audiences filled with 700 students on their school field trip! The energy and passion they bring into the room is completely contagious and it makes each performance a uniquely wild experience.

How can you make a recurring role like the Grinch feel fresh each time it's performed?
Every time we stage the production, the world we live in is a little different. And the changes in our world impact the choices we make in the rehearsal room. So the piece is always evolving and growing due to the influence of what’s happening around us at that moment. It always keeps it fresh.

What makes the How the Grinch Stole Christmas such a well-loved story?
I think it celebrates our capacity for change! Change is hard. Change can be painful. But change is necessary. And it is our only hope to reduce the amount of hate in our world. This story reminds us that anyone and everyone can change.

What is something people might not know about the production?
Children’s Theatre Company was the first theatre in the entire world to stage “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.”

Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas at the Children’s Theatre Company is proud to announce the cast and creative team behind this year’s production, which brings back Reed Sigmund in the role of The Grinch for the fifth time! . Previews begin November 8, with opening night on Saturday, November 12.
