Recently, MyElearningWorld released a new report showing that the average college student will spend $294.06 per month on groceries this year or $2,352 for two full semesters.
On top of that, the average student will spend $369.36 eating out or $2,955 for two full semesters.
The report includes a map showing average grocery spend per state along with other notable findings:
- The average cost per meal for college students this year will be $7.37
- The average meal plan is $4,500 for two semesters, or $6.25 per meal, which saves a little, but not a ton
- Students in Hawaii ($521.39), Alaska ($437.70), New York ($437.70), West Virginia ($374.36), and Mississippi ($369.84) will spend the most on groceries
- Students in New Hampshire ($98.40), Kansas ($186.62), Idaho ($209.24), Utah ($210.37), and Arkansas ($210.37) will spend the least
College costs are a hot topic, especially since President Biden announced his plan for student debt relief.
