Caring Causes: Operation Shower

PepsiCo, the Dallas Cowboys and Optum Serve helped bring a day of joy to 20 military moms and moms-to-be on Saturday, November 5, when they hosted an Operation Shower® group baby shower in their honor.  The moms are the spouses or partners of active duty or deployed members of local military bases, or in some cases, are active duty military members themselves.

Presented by PepsiCo, the Dallas Cowboys and Optum Serve, the “A Star is Born”-themed event will include a catered lunch, raffles and contests with prizes, and the highlight of the event, the distribution of Operation Shower’s signature Showers In A Box – gifts of high-quality products for mothers and babies that have been donated by generous companies including Kendra Scott, PepsiCo, Optum Serve, Delta Children, Skip Hop, 4moms and the Dallas Cowboys. Beyond the array of tangible items the moms will receive, the most treasured gift of all may be the opportunity for the moms to share camaraderie with other women in the
same situation.

“For women who are expecting a baby and whose spouses are deployed, and especially for expectant moms who are active duty, the impending arrival of a child can be both exciting and stressful,” said Operation Shower Founder and Chief Shower Officer LeAnn Morrissey. “Operation Shower was created because typically military moms are the ones who hold it all together at home. These moms deserve our support, our appreciation, and an opportunity to celebrate this wonderful milestone together.”

“The men and women of our military deserve all the support that we can provide,” said Charlotte Jones, Dallas Cowboys executive vice president and chief brand officer. “The Dallas Cowboys are excited to partner with PepsiCo and Optum Serve to celebrate these extraordinary women and their families, who sacrifice so much in service to our country.  Whether they are serving on the front lines or keeping everything running smoothly at home, military moms deserve to be honored for everything they do to help keep America safe and free.”

“PepsiCo has a long legacy of supporting America’s military families, and we are delighted to join with Operation Shower, Optum Serve and the Dallas Cowboys in showing our tremendous gratitude to all of the amazing moms being honored at this special shower,” said PepsiCo Global Integration Manager for E-Commerce Dan Luby. “In the military, families serve too.  It’s a privilege to have the opportunity to recognize the resilience, strength, courage and patriotism of these women and thank them for the immeasurable sacrifices they make.”

“As a veteran and military mom, I can attest to the strength, perseverance and pride of our military.  Optum Serve is honored to join the Dallas Cowboys and PepsiCo in recognizing our military families.  Those who serve and those who support our service members are owed a debt of gratitude from a grateful Nation,” said LTG (Ret.) Patricia D. Horoho, CEO of Optum Serve.
