Enriching Education - Pluto Day

First discovered in 1930, older generations grew up learning Pluto was the 9th planet in our solar system. Then, in 2006, everything we had learned about this far off planet was thrown out the window when its planetary status was revoked. Today, children still learn about Pluto, and there is even a whole day dedicated to it - Pluto Day on February 18th. To honor the most famous dwarf planet, Brainly, the world’s largest online learning platform and homework help community, is sharing their five favorite facts about Pluto!

>> Pluto Fact 1
Pluto lost its planetary status in 2006 because it shares its orbit around the sun with objects called “plutinos.”

>> Pluto Fact 2
Pluto is smaller than the Earth’s moon, measuring in at one-sixth of the moon’s mass and one-third of its volume.

>> Pluto Fact 3

>> Pluto Fact 4
Pluto has an unusual orbit. Sometimes it is further from the Sun than Neptune, and sometimes it is closer to the Sun than Neptune.

>> Pluto Fact 5
Pluto may have lost its Planetary status in 2006, but now some scientists (and 66% of Brainly users) are arguing that Pluto should be reinstated as a planet. What do you think?
