Take this example of a standard family that drives around 14,000 miles per year getting 27 miles to the gallon. This would amount to about $2,000 per year in gasoline prices. If this family switched to electric, they’d average about four miles per one-kilowatt-hour, or about 2.3 cents per mile. This comes out to about $383 spend per year powering the car — a staggering savings of over $1,600 per year! 

2. Lower Your Carbon Footprint 

Another common myth about electric cars is that they have a larger carbon footprint than gasoline cars. This misconception comes from the idea that the increased electricity usage creates more power plant emissions than a gasoline car. However, the fact is that EVs are better for the environment. 

Even when taking the additional electricity EVs use into account, EVs’ carbon footprint remains much lower than a standard gas vehicle. An MIT study found that electric vehicles emit 200 grams of CO2 per mile compared to the 350 grams of CO2 per mile that gas vehicles emit. 

3. Charge From the Convenience of Home
