I recently had a chance to review A Song and A Prayer: 30 Devotions Inspired by My Favorite Songs, an upcoming book by Loretta Lynn. The book is a devotion book, with song lyrics paired with Bible verses and Loretta's reflections on the spiritual lesson that is inspired by the lyrics.
If you're a fan of country music, you'll probably love this devotional. I still found it very interesting and uplifting, but I probably would have gotten more out of it if I had recognized more of the songs. I still could very much empathize with the idea of getting spiritual truths from songs, and as a musician, I know that I feel things more deeply with music than words alone. This devotional would be great for any country music fan, and would also make a good gift for people who like to see the relationship between music lyrics and Bible verses.
