Rural Media Group, Inc. (RMG) announced today that it has partnered with Liga Nacional de Rodeio (LNR) to bring Brazilian rodeo to viewers in the United States. For 2023, there will be a confirmed total of 10 Brazilian rodeos that will air on The Cowboy Channel, including Barretos, one of the grandest events in the world, and Brazil’s most popular rodeo, which takes place every August outside Sao Paulo. The plan is for each Brazilian rodeo to be recorded live with the LNR TV production team on-site in Brazil, and then be turned around in post-production within seven days adding in English commentary to broadcast on The Cowboy Channel and live stream + VOD on its digital platform Cowboy Channel+.
“I have been fascinated by the enthusiasm for western sports in Brazil since first going to Barretos for a PBR event in 2006," stated Patrick Gottsch, Founder of Rural Media Group, Inc. "Over 80,000 fans packed the stadium that night, all night, and I was hooked. Since then, we have made several trips to Sao Paulo and developed some close friendships in Brazil with leaders in both the country’s broadcast and rodeo industries, who share our passion for agriculture and the western way of life. I am so proud to finally be partners with Marcos Abud and LNR to bring these great Brazilian rodeos to our North American audiences."
The first Brazilian rodeo, Braganca Paulista, took place this past weekend April 20th-22nd in Sao Paulo and is scheduled to air the week of May 1st on The Cowboy Channel. The schedule is as follows for the 2023 Brazilian Rodeo Schedule on The Cowboy Channel:
