Digital Snooping

Our digital devices have become a treasure trove of information about us, and parents admit to using them to snoop on their children.

Secure Data Recovery surveyed Americans asking about digital snooping habits and opinions to gain a better understanding of why people snoop and in which other relationships it's most common.

Key takeaways:

  • The 3rd most common snooping target is children, coming in after partners & ex-partners.
  • Ranking 5th on the list was the reverse, as Americans admitted to going through their parent's devices too.
  • 53% of all snoopers found something incriminating or concerning when going through someone’s device..
  • Messages, photos/videos and browser history are the top things people look at when snooping.

  • Women are more likely than men to snoop on someone digitally & to not regret it.

Here’s a look at the full study with more interesting results.
