Parenting Pointers: Teplin Family Chores

Watch in this new video how The Home Edit’s Joanna Teplin and do-it-all dad Jeremy team up with their children to implement fairer cleaning practices in their home by making it easier for the younger members of the household to participate.

Coming out of her conversation with New York Times best-selling author and creator of the Fair Play brand Eve Rodsky on The Home Edit’s Best Friend Energy podcast, Joanna shared how her family has implemented fairer cleaning practices in order to close the chore gap in her own home. This short video illustrates how even the youngest members of a household can participate in cleanup and own their own zone within the chore wheel.

“At The Home Edit we are all about smart systems that help make life easier,” said The Home Edit’s Joanna Teplin. “This is a system that makes cleaning more equitable in the household and because of that, will help close the chore gap. It’s so easy to use and store and I can even delegate the task of mopping to my kids.”

“We all have the opportunity to close the chore gap in our own homes. When we treat our homes as the most important organization and utilize smart systems, it is easier to delegate ownership to our partners and kids,” said Eve Rodsky. “The Fair Play System and the Swiffer PowerMop all-in-one wet cleaning system make it easy for anyone to meet the minimum standard of clean for your home.”

Research from the University of Minnesota shows the single best predictor of relationship success is doing chores at the age of 3 and 4. There is no better product to help demonstrate the path to home equity than the all-new Swiffer PowerMop, which was designed to be easy to use, and easy to delegate with confidence - giving people the clean they want in just minutes. With their biggest innovation in 20 years, Swiffer is helping families close the chore gap with the new Swiffer PowerMop. The collaborative program is a partnership between P&G, Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine, a part of Candle Media, along with Hello Sunshine’s direct-to-consumer brands The Home Edit and Fair Play. Bringing 3 game-changing systems - Swiffer PowerMop, The Home Edit and Fair Play - together, Hello Sunshine and Swiffer PowerMop will transform culture one home at a time. Procter & Gamble (P&G) Home Care brands Dawn and Swiffer had previously launched Home Eq[uity], an educational initiative designed to close the chore gap in households across North America by addressing the gendered division of household labor.
