Music Minute - The Reklaws and Drake Milligan: Honky Tonkin' About

Nashville has become more than a second home to multi-PLATINUM duo The Reklaws, inspiring their next release – “Honky Tonkin' About” feat. international breakout artist and Fort Worth, Texas native Drake Milligan, available everywhere today. Slipping into their Country roots with unmistakable southern tones, the new track featuring Milligan, a familiar face on America's Got Talent, will deliver the rowdy Reklaws party in a way that traditional Country music fans will openly embrace.

“No surprise given the name, 'Honky Tonkin' About' feels a little more western than what you might be used to from The Reklaws, which is why we called in Drake to help out on this one,” shares Jenna Walker of The Reklaws. “We're so excited to have him bring his authentic Texas spirit to what we hope will be this summer's biggest party anthem.”

Written by The Reklaws' Stuart Walker, Blake Redferrin (Florida Georgia Line), Thomas “Tawgs” Salter (Josh Groban, Hunter Hayes) and Callum Maudsley, the track came together as the group dreamed of being able to get back into bars and onto stages during wide-spread lockdowns in 2021. “We were trying to pull ourselves out of a funk one day during the pandemic so we sat down and thought about what we would want to party to at a honky tonk on a Friday night with our friends. From those daydreams, this song was born,” shared Stuart Walker.

“I was honored to get the call to be on my first ever feature with The Reklaws,” shares Milligan. “They are so much fun to work with.”

The music video for the western-inspired new track will premiere next month, taking fans on a wild journey into the depths of a honkytonk in America during the 1800s. Featuring appearances from Christopher McDonald (Happy Gilmore), Robert Knepper (Prison Break) and Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds) the video was shot on-site in Romania on the set of The Grey House (Kevin Costner, Morgan Freeman) with an Oscar award-winning team.

Earlier this month, the record-setting duo was announced as the hosts for the 2023 CCMA Awards. This comes in addition to their five nominations which included nods for Fans' Choice, Album of the Year, Group or Duo of the Year as well as Single of the Year and Musical Collaboration of the Year for their third No.1 and recently PLATINUM-certified track, “11 Beers feat. Jake Owen.” The Reklaws will do double-duty on the Awards this year with a performance during the broadcast in addition to hosting the biggest night in Canadian Country music.

Having just come off the stage at Country Thunder Wisconsin and Cavendish Beach Music Festival in July, The Reklaws will be bringing their party to more stages across North America this summer. You can catch the celebrated duo at Country Thunder Florida, Rock The River, Gone Country, Rock the Park, Riverfest Elora and back-to-back nights at Jackson Triggs Estate Winery. Fans are encouraged to keep an eye out across their channels for more shows to be announced.
