I had a chance to review the new book, There’s a Yeti in My Tummy , set to be released on August 29th. In the book, author, writer, and mother Meredith Rusu encourages kids and parents alike to unleash their inner yetis and embrace the chaotic joy of BIG feelings!
The book is written with an upbeat rhyme scheme and bold illustrations to make an engaging read-along experience for all kids. It's a cute story, too, and one that will resonate with many kids who have big feelings that are sometimes hard to control! The Yeti is a creature who comes out throughout the day - at mealtime, recess, bedtime, and more. Not only is the book funny and entertaining, but it can help parents and caregivers talk through when it's appropriate to have big crazy actions, and alternatives when there are big feelings during a time that requires more self-control.
Rusu has penned more than one hundred children’s books for beloved franchises such as LEGO, Disney/Pixar, Peppa Pig, American Girl, and Star Wars, notably Silenzio, Bruno! and Anna, Elsa, and the Enchanting Holiday.
There’s a Yeti in My Tummy is her debut original children's book, inspired by her own experience as the mother of two little boys who may or may not have yetis of their own. (They do.) The Mighty Moods series features rhyming stories and wacky creatures who help children, parents, and caretakers learn to embrace big feelings in constructive ways to become joyful, compassionate, and brave.
