Parenting Pointers - Breastfeeding in a Baby Carrier

World Breastfeeding Week is Tuesday, Aug 1 through Monday, Aug 7, 2023. This global campaign, which is celebrated in more than 120 countries, aims to raise awareness about breastfeeding and its advantages.

Babywearing and breastfeeding is an important topic. Here are a few tips on how you can successfully breastfeed in a baby carrier like a pro, courtesy of Lillebaby.com.

1. Wear easy, comfortable clothes for simple nursing. The double shirt method is effective and discreet in public.

2. Prepare for nursing by adjusting your carrier: lower the baby by loosening the waistband so their mouth is at nipple level, and slightly loosen one shoulder strap opposite the feeding side for baby's free head movement. Features like the LILLEBABY Complete 6-In-1 Carrier's two-way adjustable straps facilitate this process.

3. Trust your carrier for hands-free nursing. If available, use the carrier's built-in headrest for additional baby head support and privacy.

4. Post-feeding, retighten your carrier with baby still inside. Lift the baby higher on your chest while adjusting the waistband, then tighten shoulder straps to bring the baby back to an ideal, kissable height.

5. Patience is key. Master breastfeeding and babywearing separately before combining them for smoother transitions into nursing in your carrier.
