My older daughter loves art, fantasy themes, and things that are slightly dark. So we loved the chance to review Wednesday: An Unofficial Coloring Book of the Morbid and Ghastly and The Magical Girl’s Self-Care Coloring Book.
My daughter was a big fan of the Wednesday series. While she was a lot more similar to Wednesday's overly perky and colorful roommate, her younger sister is a lot more like Wednesday herself, and both like slightly morbid elements. This book had a great level of detail - enough to be interested, but not so much that each page took an obnoxiously long time to color.
The Self-Care book was inspired by a lot of different female characters from stories and the media. The pictures themselves didn't have a great deal of self-care elements in them, but instead inspire self-care by helping people embrace their inner superheroes and magical fantasies. The art style is a little bit simpler to color, but leads to some very powerful pictures.
