Money Makers - The Most Dangerous Jobs in America

Personal injury experts have revealed that Veterinary jobs are the most dangerous jobs in America.

Research by personal injury lawyers at JohnFitch.com analysed the number of non-fatal injuries in every industry per 200 million hours worked (or 100,000 full-time workers at 40 hours per week, 50 weeks per year). The more injuries per time worked, the more dangerous those jobs are considered to be

1 –Veterinary Services

In America, Veterinary jobs receive the most injuries for every 100,000 workers on a 40-hour week with 13.8 injuries. Animals can be unpredictable and thus this job has the potential to be quite dangerous at times. Many dogs can exert considerable bite force with sharp teeth, while other animals have claws, poison or just sheer size and power that could cause potential injury.

2 – Bottled Water Manufacturing

With 10.6 injuries per 100,000 workers those who work in bottled water manufacturing find themselves in one of the most dangerous jobs in America. Although bottled water probably wouldn’t appear that dangerous, the process and machinery involved cause pose potential risks and injury. As well as machinery bottled water can be quite heavy when packed together or in larger gallon containers and thus it's been reported that workers can experience spinal damage from the constant heavy lifting. There have also been times where pallets of water some weighing up to 4,000lbs have fallen and severely injured or killed staff.

3 – Ambulance Services

Out of those who work in Ambulance services there are approximately 10.5 injuries for every 100,000 full-time workers, working 40-hour weeks. When attending emergencies, these workers can often find themselves in situations where there could be hazards, not only from the environment but from people themselves. As first responders, ambulances are vital in saving lives and helping those in need. Unfortunately, jobs like this don’t come without the possibility of danger.

4 – Skiing Facilities

Skiing is one of the most dangerous sports in the world with 2.6 injuries for every 1,000 skiers. Even those who are experienced skiers or are used to working in the conditions found at skiing facilities can be caught out by the unpredictability and danger of these environments. Jobs such as ski instructors, slope maintenance or lift operators will all encounter possibly dangerous situations that could result in injury. In America, there are 10.5 injuries per every 100,000 workers.

5 – Nursing and Residential Care Facilities

Similar to Ambulance Services; Nursing and Residential Care Facilities can often be faced with unforeseen circumstances that could lead to injury or illness. With the amount of equipment required in patient care and oftentimes long hours with little rest there is potential for risk and injury due to the nature of this incredibly difficult industry to work in. In this industry, there are 10.3 injuries per 100,000.

6 – Inland Water Passenger Transportation

This U.S. industry is comprised primarily of operators of passenger boats and commercial transport across lakes, along rivers, or intracoastal waterways. Although mainly dealing with passenger transportation there are still risks involved, especially when conditions out on the water can change quickly or mechanical issues need to be dealt with. This industry has 9.7 injuries per 100,000 employees working 40-hour weeks.

7 – Correctional Institutions

With 8.4 injuries per 100,000 workers, correctional officers have one of the most dangerous jobs in America. It's surprising that this job isn't higher in the list considering they work around some of America's most violent and harmful criminals. Apart from those incarcerated, prisons and other facilities have plenty of hazards to be cautious of and thus make them dangerous environments to work in.

8 – Iron Foundries

Iron foundries primarily engage in pouring molten pig iron or iron alloys into molds to manufacture castings. There are 8.1 injuries per 100,000, which makes it one of the more dangerous jobs in America. However, with the amount of safety regulations that factories must adhere to, it is much safer than it used to be.

9 – Couriers and Express Delivery Services

Couriers and delivery service employees are also in one of the most dangerous industries according to data with 8 injuries per 100,000 employees working 40-hour weeks. There are more opportunities for road accidents as many workers will spend a lot of time driving, which is the most hazardous form of transport. Being out no matter the weather means there may also be hazards from extreme conditions.

10 – Manufactured Home (Mobile Home) Manufacturing

Much like many manufacturing jobs, this industry will involve heavy machinery, tools, and materials that could potentially cause harm. There is a multitude of hazards that make these manufacturing jobs dangerous to work in, which account for the 7.8 injuries per 100,000 employees working 40-hour weeks.

A spokesperson from JohnFitch.com  commented: “Workplace injuries in America present a harsh reality that underscores the importance of prioritizing worker safety and well-being. Each year, thousands of workers across various industries experience injuries that not only affect their physical health but also have profound consequences on their livelihoods and families.

America's foundations are built upon the ideologies of hard work and dedication to creating a better society for the future, whether you're a builder, nurse, driver, police officer, retail worker or any other job, you are providing value. Safety while doing those jobs should be a top priority as no one should have to go to work and worry about the dangers they may face”.
