Book Nook - The Crocodile and The Plover Bird

Enthralling youngsters and those reading to them, The Crocodile and The Plover may be Faye Carruthers debut picture book, but with praiseworthy reviews amassing, it’s clear that this talented new author has found her niche.

Sharing a story of how help can come from the most unlikely of quarters (in this case a plover bird helping the crocodile to clean his teeth), this inspiring tale also leaves children understanding the importance of kindness, reciprocal friendships, and why we should never judge others.

Using the full extent of her teaching background (the author previously taught English at secondary school level) and with her passion for animals shining bright, this entertaining and educational picture book is destined to be read and read again.  It also makes a perfect read for those youngsters who shy from putting their toothbrush to work at bedtime.

Synopsis:

Crunch the crocodile really needs someone to get their teeth stuck into a new project… helping him clean his teeth! With small claws and little resources, Crunch finds it very difficult to rid his teeth and gums of leftover food. Therefore, he sets off on a quest to find someone who will be willing to help him… but will he ever find anyone?

This fun and uplifting rhyming book teaches young minds that sometimes looks aren’t everything. Based on a symbiotic relationship, Crunch learns that help can be found in the most unlikely of friends - and that he can help them too!

About the author:

Faye Carruthers achieved a BA Hons degree in English Literature whilst studying in Liverpool. A passion for literature led her to gain a PGCE in secondary education and she taught English for seven years before deciding to leap into the world of writing.

An avid animal lover and often claiming that she “preferred animals to humans as they show kindness in abundance”, this passion gave her the inspiration for her debut children’s book - The Crocodile and Plover Bird: A Rare Friendship.
