Caring Connections - Dating and Divorce Podcast

Longtime Chicago-area family law attorney, managing shareholder of STG Divorce Law, and bestselling author Raiford Dalton Palmer has launched an entertaining and informative podcast on dating and divorce, discussing relationships through the lens of pop culture, divorce law and society.

Together with cohost Rahul Iyer, who is also a family law attorney and partner at STG Divorce Law, Palmer takes a deep dive on the “I Just Want This Done Divorce Podcast” into subjects as diverse as “gray divorce” among older Americans, unspoken rules for keeping a marriage alive and the return of the messy celebrity divorce, while also exploring the latest dating trends online such as “masterdating,” a new TikTok trend that has everyone talking.

“This is not just another podcast about how to get a divorce,” said Palmer, who is author of the Amazon bestselling book, “I Just Want This Done: How Smart, Successful People Get Divorced without Losing their Kids, Money, and Minds. ” “We focus on the human side of long-term relationships — how to date, how to stay together, how to rekindle a marriage — as well as the fun and interesting things we have learned working with people on their marriage issues.”

The podcast name comes from Palmer’s book, which was named the “Best Family Law Book of All Time” by BookAuthority.

Palmer brings serious divorce advice to every show using his decades of experience handling tough family law matters to cut through the conflicts and clutter in discussions of dating, marriage, divorce, and child custody. As in his book, he advises that people focus on their goals, whether that’s keeping their marriage healthy or ending it without burning through time and money.

In a recent episode Palmer and Iyer shed light on "gray divorces," a growing phenomenon among elderly couples living separately. They also dove into the chaotic world of modern dating, sharing intriguing insights from the Chaos Singles Party, and discussing the innovative concept of "Date Me Google Docs" and its role in revolutionizing the way people meet. This unconventional approach promises to change the dating game.

In an upcoming episode they’ll discuss the Nick Jonas-Sophie Turner divorce case and the international child custody legal issues raised there as well as interstate child custody laws under the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act also known as the UCCJEA.

“You don’t have to be going through a marriage problem to learn something from our podcast,” added Iyer. “In fact, a quiet time in your life may be the best time to get the insight and develop the habits that will help keep your relationships strong.”
