GO2 for Lung Cancer, is launching a public service announcement campaign starting the first of November in conjunction with National Lung Cancer Awareness Month. The PSA features acclaimed actor, producer and director Tony Goldwyn, recently seen in the blockbuster film “Oppenheimer” and his latest directed film, “Ezra,” awaiting release. His work in front of and behind the camera is equally impressive with a lengthy list of major successes.
Goldwyn has a personal connection to lung cancer, having lost his mother to the disease at the age of 68. “When I lost my mother to lung cancer in 1993, she didn’t have many options,” said Goldwyn. “That’s why I am so passionate about making people aware of lung cancer’s impact and the lifesaving support GO2 provides.”
“We are so grateful to Tony for his help with our national awareness campaign,” said Laurie Ambrose, president and CEO of GO2 for Lung Cancer. “As he mentions in the PSA, lung cancer is the single largest cancer killer. It claims more lives than breast, ovarian and prostate cancers combined.”
“Lung cancer is also the leading cause of cancer death among women,” Ambrose continued. “It is estimated that 164 women die of the disease daily—one woman every 8.8 minutes. Yet, this hidden women’s cancer is the least funded cancer of all the major cancers in terms of research dollars per death.”
GO2 has a long history of providing one-on-one assistance, supportive connections, treatment information, and finding the best care close to home. It is also the place to go to learn about the latest research that increases survivorship.
“We know our work with Tony will allow us to continue relentlessly confronting lung cancer on every front, every day, for everyone,” said Ambrose. For more information on GO2 for Lung Cancer, visit go2.org.
