Money Makers - Best States to Work in 2023

A new study found Minnesota is the No. 7 best state to work in 2023.

As of October, there have been 335 labor strikes and protests in 2023 – including the United Auto Workers strike -- up from 209 in 2021. With workers facing inflation, mass layoffs that are rapidly spreading beyond the tech industry and the end of remote work, many are on the hunt for jobs offering higher wages and a better work-life balance.

Peak Sales Recruiting recently released a study on the Best States to Work in 2023 using the most recent data from the Census Bureau, BLS, Bureau of Economic Analysis, and Tax Foundation.

Myriad factors were analyzed such as wages, union representation, work hours, taxes, and remote work.

A few key findings that led to Minnesota’s ranking show state and local taxes total 7.52%, 15.2% of workers are represented by a union, and jobs grew by 1.5% over the past year.

In addition, 17.2% of residents work from home and the average work week is 38.2 hours.

The 10 best states are spread across the country led by Oregon, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Montana, Delaware, Washington, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Nebraska.
