Music Minute - Exile: Big Rig Santa

Kentucky Music Hall of Fame members Exile are joyously commemorating their 60th year by releasing their festive Christmas single “Big Rig Santa” to radio on the Clearwater Records label. Crafted with a nod to the nostalgic past, when holiday songs were not just melodies but invitations to collective merriment, the band is thrilled to share their latest creation. The song is designed to recapture the essence of yesteryear's Christmas tunes, infusing fun and featuring sing-along choruses that evoke the warmth and joy of the season. Exile earnestly hopes that the song captures that delightful feeling for listeners and brings smiles to everyone who hears it. Stream and download “Big Rig Santa” by Exile HERE.

Written by J.P. PenningtonSonny LeMaire and Sharon Vaughn, "Big Rig Santa" is a heartwarming Christmas song that takes listeners on a festive journey across the United States, capturing the spirit of the holiday season in a unique and whimsical way. The lyrics vividly depict a trucker with a big heart, known affectionately as "Big Rig Santa," as he embarks on a cross-country adventure. The song symbolizes the kindness and generosity found in unexpected places during the holiday season. The tradition of leaving milk and cookies is a touching gesture, reminding us that even those who are constantly on the move can find warmth.

"Big Rig Santa" is more than just a Christmas song; it's a celebration of the unsung heroes who work tirelessly, even during the holidays, to ensure that the world keeps turning. It's a reminder that the Christmas spirit can be found in the most unexpected places. This song encapsulates the essence of the holiday season, where love, generosity, and the joy of giving take center stage. "Big Rig Santa" invites us to believe in the magic of Christmas, no matter where we are, and to cherish the moments that bring us together.

“Big Rig Santa,” the new holiday release from our Joyful Noise Christmas project, is a rockin’ tribute to all the unsung heroes on America’s highways delivering the goods to every corner of our great nation!” exclaims Exile’s Sonny LeMaire. “It is a fun rockin’ song about a special trucker and his eighteen-wheeler delivering all the Christmas goodies to all the good boys and girls.”

About Exile
Exile formed in 1963, looking to play small clubs in Richmond, Kentucky, but managed to top both the pop and country charts during their nearly 60-year-long career. Their most successful hit, “Kiss You All Over” spent four weeks at the top of Billboard’s pop chart in 1978. In the early 1980s Exile started to focus on country music. During their run on the country charts, Exile has successfully had ten No. 1 singles, including “I Don’t Want To Be A Memory” and “Give Me One More Chance.” The hit song "Kiss You All Over" was used in the 1996 Adam Sandler movie Happy Gilmore and in the 2006 film Employee of the Month. They have toured with acts including Aerosmith, Fleetwood Mac, The Oak Ridge Boys, Kenny Rogers and The Judds. The five original Exile members re-formed in 2008 and continue to tour today. Current members of the band include J.P. Pennington, Les Taylor, Sonny LeMaire, Marlon Hargis and Steve Goetzman. 2023 celebrates 60 years for the band and the 45th anniversary of the hit song “Kiss You All Over.” The band is currently on tour promoting their most ambitious album project ever, A Million Miles Later, released in August 2023.
