Parenting is a remarkable journey. One that creates quirks and habits that people around us notice...and one of those habits non-parent Americans have a lot of opinions on is baby talk.
A new study reveals what people without kids in America find endearing about parents around them, and actions/words that make them feel uncomfortable.
Key findings:
“Cuddles,” “dolly,” and “night-night” are non-parents' favorite baby talk words.
“Night-night,” “tummy,” and “binky” are the top baby talk words Americans hear young parents say.
- "Poo poo," "whittle," and "num-num," are the most annoying baby talk words to non-parents.
Switching between baby talk and normal can be challenging, so much so that 72% of non-parents have heard parents talk to adults like they are children.
69% of non-parents say baby talk when speaking to children is annoying (68% of future parents say they won’t use baby talk with children).
