Terrific Tech: Pix by Likewise

Likewise is a Bill Gates backed startup revolutionizing content discovery with the recent launch of Pix. 

Pix, the AI powered entertainment companion, is great for family movie night, when you can’t quite decide what to watch or you’re being cautious about what your little one sees. Pix can handle it all. 

Aside from TV shows and movies, Pix can even help you discover the hottest books and podcasts. Asking Pix for recommendations is as easy as asking, “What are some funny monster movies?”, or “What are some family friendly books?”; with the ability to recommend just about anything, Pix can offer something for everyone in the family, regardless of age. 

Pix works by combining 600 million consumer data points and machine learning algorithms from Likewise with the natural language processing of OpenAI to help people discover their favorite content. 

I did try it out, and I found that the more information I gave it, the better. If I didn't put my kids' ages in, for example, it missed the mark with shows geared towards much younger kids. However, when I asked it for fantasy books featuring neurodivergent characters, it gave some great recommendations (some of them my kids have already read and enjoyed, but others were new titles).
