Body & Beauty - Shapewear

Have you ever thought about wearing shapewear? I don't own any, but I've seen enough videos and ads that I've always been a little curious about it. How well does it actually work? How comfortable is it? How can you find shapewear that fits and supports but isn't too constricting?

Everybody has their own idea of what is a "perfect" body, which means that there's an awful lot of different types of shapewear out there. Some people want a slimmer bottom. Other people want a little more of a booty that pops. And, obviously, you don't want it to be easily noticed that you are wearing shapewear. One option is a seamless butt lifter. It can help shape your behind without having seams that are visible or seams that are bothersome while you're wearing it.

Just like different people have different ideals for what they want their shape to look like, different women have different areas that need shaping. You can find shapewear for pretty much every body part - chest, legs, thighs, waist, and more. It's all designed to slim certain parts and enhance others.

Is it comfortable? I don't know. But apparently you can learn about the benefits of wearing a girdle. It can help with posture and back support. It can also provide some postpartum benefits. And it gives the appearance of a slimmer, more toned body.

Most shapewear is going to have spandex or a similar material in it - it's how it is able to do its magic of compressing and shaping body parts! That also means it might take some getting used to. Like any constricting fabric, it's going to put pressure on certain body parts. That's why it's essential to find something that fits appropriately. You don't want to cut off circulation or be uncomfortable! Good quality shapewear will provide gentle compression, not uncomfortable constriction.

I recently learned the term "faja." It comes from a Spanish word, apparently, for wrap (related to fajitas?) So some shapewear uses that term, like a  faja girdle. It comes from Colombia, where it was a post-cosmetic surgery compression wrap to help with swelling and skin tightening post surgery.

If you're looking to try out shapewear for the first time, you might not want to invest a great deal of money in it - find a source with value-based options so you don't spend a lot of money until you figure out what you need and what size you are. And if you've ever used shapewear, share your experiences so we can all learn!
