Fun Freetime - Phons Use Survey

A new report is shedding light on current phone use among Americans and how they feel about it. This nationwide survey found Americans spend an average of over 4.5 hours per day on their phones, or roughly 12 years in a lifetime.

  • 45% feel addicted to their phones
  • 40% are trying to cut down on screen time in 2024
  • More than 1 in 3 (36%) couldn’t go a day without their phones

Messaging apps are the most popular apps on the phone, followed by YouTube, Facebook, search engines, and Instagram. Given that 70% use their phones primarily for entertainment, it’s no surprise that social media apps comprise 6 of the top 10 apps used by Americans.

Check out the full report for more popular phone apps as well as how much time each generation spends on their phones.
