Due to popular demand, The Paley Center for Media is pleased to announce it is extending its two blockbuster exhibits. Beyond the Big Game will now run until March 10, and Genius MLK/X Two Minds, One Movement: A Black History Month Exhibit Presented by Citi will run until March 31. Both exhibits are currently on display at the Paley Museum located at 25 W 52nd Street in Midtown Manhattan.
“The Paley Museum is thrilled to extend these incredible exhibits that have entertained thousands of visitors from New York City and beyond,” said Maureen J. Reidy, the Paley Center’s President & CEO. “Beyond the Big Game and Genius MLK/X are just some of the best-in-class exhibits The Paley Museum is proud to present all year round.”
Beyond the Big Game, The Paley Museum’s Super Bowl exhibit, features the highly coveted Vince Lombardi Trophy, the 57 rings from each Super Bowl-winning team, and for the first time, a public exhibit of memorable Super Bowl commercials from the past 50 years that have been curated from the renowned Paley Archive. Beyond the Big Game also features costumes and sets from iconic Halftime performances including Katy Perry’s costume from Super Bowl XLIX, along with the Beach Ball and the Shark, that became a viral sensation that year, and The Weeknd’s costume and set from Super Bowl LV. Rounding out the exhibit are 150 photos of iconic, thrilling Super Bowl moments, screenings of some of the greatest Super Bowl plays and past Super Bowl games featuring those won by the New York Giants and Jets, and Super Bowl Halftime Shows.
Genius MLX/X explores the legacies of Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X by spotlighting the latest installment of National Geographic’s Emmy-winning Genius anthology series, Genius: MLK/X focuses on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X and shows how their dueling philosophies helped usher America through the Civil Rights movement. This riveting exhibition, with costumes, props, and set decorations from the series, provides a window for visitors to transport themselves into the heart of the 1960s Civil Rights movement chronicled in Genius: MLK/X, as well as screenings selected by curators.
Each year, The Paley Museum presents exhibits that offer a behind-the-scenes look at the television programs, sporting events, and influential personalities who have made an indelible impact on society. Recent exhibits include A Paley Tribute to Roberto Clemente: The Legend of #21 and Paley Celebrates the 25th Anniversary of Will & Grace.
