Of Mothers and Men - Manhattan (5/7-5/11)

Experience the contrasting perceptions of closeness between women, their mothers, themselves, and the various men in their lives in a culturally relevant and much anticipated Off-Broadway event.

From May 7th to May 11th, 2024, the Wild Project in the Lower East Side of Manhattan will come alive with the revival play "Of Mothers and Men," presented by the acclaimed theatre company and cultural group, Black Latina Movement, under the direction of Crystal Shaniece Roman.

Framed by nine piercing and heart-centered monologues, performed by a striking all-women cast representing Caribbean, Latina, and African ancestry, the play will undoubtedly provoke hidden emotions.

Each vignette is a transformative story. When woven together, the monologues reveal connectivity and contrasts. One woman is left heartbroken after being jilted at the altar, while another has a faithful and nurturing relationship. A mother's selfish drive for personal gain is compared to a supportive and loving mother-daughter relationship. Additionally, the fear of an unwanted pregnancy is juxtaposed with hope for the future, opposed to the devotion and confidence of an experienced mother.
