Award-winning children’s musician, author, and podcaster Patrick Adams is proud to announce the June 14 release of his eighth album for kids and families, Imagination Time with Patrick.
A triple-threat in the world of children’s entertainment, Las Vegas resident Patrick Adams is also the author of the award-winning Amazing Lisa and Rhythm’s World children’s book series and the creator/host of the NAPPA Award-winning Kindie Rock Stars podcast.
‘80s influences shine throughout Imagination Time with Patrick, and listeners will hear touches of new wave, hair metal, and ‘80s pop. For this album, Patrick thought up as many silly, outlandish topics as he could and then challenged himself to build songs that would express the limitless possibilities of imagination. The result: 15 songs geared for ages 6 – 12 that feature such wild and fun scenarios as the adventures of a hairless werewolf, an alien dance party, a new pet called a “puppy cat,” and a train that flies through outer space.
“My albums are typically built around a concept, whether it be travel (Travel Time with Patrick), adventure (Adventure Time with Patrick), or my deep love of ‘80s music (the Kindies Do the ‘80s series),” says Patrick Adams. He continues, “Imagination Time with Patrick is the first release where I have fully taken the reins and built an album as I wanted it to look and sound. I purposely wrote up-tempo, upbeat songs, with an overall goal of making kids feel happy. I wanted to use my own imagination to create a record that would be memorable, unique, fun, and catchy.”
Album highlights include “Hairless Werewolf,” a blast of ‘80s-style hair metal about a werewolf who can’t grow hair but is, by all accounts, a very friendly werewolf. “Unicorn,” an ‘80s-influenced electro-style track, reminds everyone that they have something special to contribute to the world. The pure pop fun of “Zombie Ballerina” was inspired by a wacky song Patrick Adams heard his 4-year-old daughter, Lyric, singing to herself in the mirror one day. (Lyric can be heard on this track.) “Fluffy Dinosaur” is a tale of a little-known dinosaur called the Fluffosaurus Rex, a cute-and-cuddly type of dinosaur that would make an awesome pet.
Not to be overlooked is “Space Train,” an educational trip around the galaxy on a train, which details each planetary stop and a few of the moons as well. (Adult listeners may catch a sly nod to Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train” at the beginning.). Speaking of outer space, “Alien Dance Party” portrays an encounter with aliens who only want to dance! This number starts in very mysterious fashion and then shifts to a straight up electro-rave once the aliens have made their intentions known.
“Purple Pepperoni Pizza” is a goofy tale of a kid who loves everything to be purple, including his pizza. Patrick Adams says, “I was shooting for a little Weird Al Yankovic mixed with some Frank Zappa on this one.” The disco-influenced “Underwater Airplane” includes a nod to Raffi and Pinkfong at the end, while listeners will hear a bit of an Americana/John Mellencamp sound on “Rockin’ Oxen,” a fun tune about a band of rock star oxen. Imagination Time with Patrick comes to a happy ending with “Imagination Situation,” a song about how the imagination can lead to some amazing things, just like this album!
ABOUT PATRICK ADAMS:
Born to American parents in Beirut, Lebanon, Patrick Adams’ love of travel may have begun on his first flight when he was just four days old. Patrick spent his early years in such exotic locations as Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and Las Palmas, Canary Islands. Not surprisingly, he graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a degree in Travel and Tourism.
Patrick’s debut children's book, a travel adventure titled Lisa Goes to England, was released in May 2015. England was just the first locale of many travel adventures in what would become the Amazing Lisa series, inspired by Patrick’s own children. With tales set in France, Australia, India, Japan, Brazil, and Italy, each story features exploration, mischief, and magic in some of the world’s most enchanting places.
A second series called Rhythm’s World debuted in February 2017 and is built around Patrick’s daughter, Rhythm. A subsequent “series within a series” called Rhythm's World Tour encompasses three books about North America, Europe, and Asia. Rhythm Meets Lyric, released in 2021, celebrates Rhythm's new sister, Lyric.
Among the awards Patrick Adams has received for his children’s books are the Readers Favorite Award, Book Excellence Award, Hot Diggity Award, Maincrest Media Award, and Independent Press Award.
In 2021, Patrick Adams’ debut children's album, the Hot Diggity Award-winning Amazing World, was released, and he also launched his NAPPA Award-winning Kindie Rock Stars podcast, which celebrates other children's musicians. Seven more releases followed, including The Friends EP, a single, “Meet Us in Brazil,” and the albums Travel Time with Patrick, Kindies Do the ‘80s Volumes One through Four, and Adventure Time with Patrick (2023 NAPPA Award).
Imagination Time with Patrick will be available digitally on all major platforms.
