The research team at Coventry Direct sparked a sibling rivalry to see which traits fit the best within the birth order. They surveyed more than 1,000 Americans and analyzed the results. Here’s a snapshot:
Who leads in riskiness and humor?
⅓ of youngest siblings prefer to take a chance (35%).
⅔ think they make people laugh easily (66%).
Who leads in responsibility, adventurousness, organizing others, and leadership?
More than half (55%) of eldest siblings claim to be relied on the most for organizing plans and 43% say they are the most likely to lead in social situations.
57% regularly seek out new experiences and 55% are always setting new goals.
Who leads in independence, mediation, and compromise?
More than ⅘ of middle children prefer to work on projects alone (82%).
Middle children stay calm and focus on finding harmony amidst conflict (77%) as well as seeking a compromise instead of being right (72%).
Who leads in … nothing?
Only children didn’t agree with any statement more than those with siblings. Although, they are the least likely to lead social situations (35%), solve problems independently (79%), take risks (30%), and make people laugh (54%).
