Book Nook - A Garden Tail

For author Gene Baxley Schwiers, each day brings new possibilities, a sentiment reflected in her favorite quote by a much-loved author, “It is never too late to become the person you should have been.” And it was this quote that encouraged her to leave the corporate world behind to pursue her passion for helping children experience the joy of nature. Having grown up with a loving and supportive mother, a master gardener, who valued spending time outdoors, Schwiers debuts an engaging story of a little girl who explores a garden in search of magic.

Revisiting her own childhood, Schwiers collaborated with North Carolina-based artist Sarah Sneeden to introduce children to the miracles of the natural world. “This book is about my childhood and the love of nature my grandmother, uncle, and mother shared with me,” Schwiers said. “It captures the wonders of life through the eyes of a child.”

In A Garden Tail, Baxley dreams of adventures in her beloved family’s garden. When she wakes, she sets out to make her dream become a reality. Situated among oak trees, larkspurs, and Carolina pines, the country garden is a sight to behold, and in the eyes of young Baxley, it is a place of enchantment. As Baxley seeks to find its magic, she will come to appreciate the gift of nature.
